Just stopping in to say hello (thanks to Paul for his help in registering) and ask for advice. At 56, I am returning to the days when I enjoyed driving and tinkering on a truck. I am tired of wheel sensors, brake sensors, any sensors or computers!! I am on the search for a 63-66 Chevy C10 to make my daily driver. With all the parts available for replacement and upgrade to these old trucks these days, what condition is a truck considered fixable...in other words...too far gone to mess with?

Welcome customwolfe, there are likely quite a few of those around in restorable condition, seeing as you live in the south. A lot of the old stuff that we buy in Canada comes from the Carolinas or the midwest. All the replacement parts are available but cost money so if you find a truck with the entire body in reasonable condition is a good thing. There is a lot to learn if you plan on restoring an old truck, but this site has everything you need to do the job, even a forum dedicated to the 60-66 trucks.

Customwolfe, welcome to the Bolt. Leo is right about the condition. Pay more for one that has good metal and you will be ahead of the game. Even old rusty trucks have their value but its up to you to decide how much "work" you want to put into it. It seems all my vehicles are basket cases and I don't get to restore them, I have to ressurect them!!

Should be able to find a nice candiate in thye years your looking for. Check out the Trucks for Sale forum here and there is some nice links to ebay and craiglist for you to go through.

Say, what part of S.C. are you from? We may be close! You can come to the Southern Stovebolt Reunion in May at WestGate Mall in Spartanburg. May 29th.

welcom customwolfe to the bolt. i too am new to the bolt, i just purchased a 65 c-10 fleetside in early dec. its a six with a 3 on the tree and i'm keeping it that way. i have some issues to deal with over the winter but it will be ready to drive come apr/may or when the snow and salt are gone. it is going to be a driver no shgow truck by any meaans. good luck.

Thanks to all for the advice. I have passed on some because of problems, had some sold out from under me and missed out on some good ones. The right one will come along soon.
