Hello, all, my Useername is UnKnownRoddEr, im 17, live in northwestern Iowa, and Chevy is the only way to go!
My first project ever is an early 50s Chevy 1/2 ton (not sure on the year), my dad found it in a junkyard, and is trading some iron for it. Currently, it has no engine, transmission, front suspension, wheels or radiator. The box is remarkably straight, and the hood and cab are perfect. But the front and back fenders are a little on the useless side. I plan to drop a 383 Chevy S/B, and a 400 automatic transmission, i want to put a 10 or 12 bolt in the back, but the local junkyard owner is a cheapskate, so i can rule those out. (any suggestions are appreciated... unless you suggest a ford 9 inch, or a dana.) The rear end that it currently has in it is a real fossil, an old Model A Tourque Tube. 4 link is definitely going in the back for superior ride and performance. The exhaust wuold be awesone if they were sidepipes, but im going to have a low stance, so that won't happen. The Interior is actually complete, and origional, but, I'm going to put bucket seats in it to allow for a nice console, that will hide plenty of new world charms, like AM/FM stereo, CD player, JL Audio 6x9s, Floor shifter for the look of a manual, but the functionality of an auto. I plan to have one 10 inch JL Audio Subwoofer behinf the seat, maybe W02s. I am not certain on the color scheme, im definitely going to do a 2-tone, but the colors are yet to be decided, maybe White top and red or black bottom... Anyway, i won't have it home until spring, and even then, i won't have any money or parts to start with, i guess i could sand the rust off and primer it while i wait for my fenders.
My guess is that its either a '51 or '52, but i'll find out when i get it.
