My story is a lot like many others. Growing up, my dad and hero had a 50 GMC. He used to drag me along with him on his Friday nights out to play music at local nursing homes. As a young teenager, I hated it but he always seemed to know how to convince me to go. I can still see myself in that truck with my dad, who is grinning ear to ear and talking about the events of the day. Flash forward forty years. I started looking for an old GMC about 6 months ago. I found this truck in Minnesota and bought from a nice guy. The first time I opened the driver’s door the gasoline smell was overwhelming. My wife, who had opened the passenger door looked at me and asked, “What is that awful smell?” I started the truck and said, “It smells and sounds just like heaven.” At that very moment I flashed back forty years and would have paid twice the price for that truck. The truck was restored in 1989. I’m still in the “honeymoon” phase and have a list of to-do’s as long as I am tall. I plan to drive it for quite a while and then attempt a restoration. I haven’t decided if I will do it or pay for it to be done. I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. My 1953 GMC.

Check it out in the Events section. I know what you mean about the old truck smell. Except ... When I bought my '48 2-ton ...
