Just returned from pick and pull empty handed,I found a t-5 in 88 s-15 GMC.Proceded to harvest it,pulled 4 bolts from tranny to bell housing,crossmember,driveshaft,shifter,striped off all the supports, shuold slide right out?Wrong.Comes out About 1/8-1/4 and stops-acts like maybe some kind of retainer or something in the bellhousing,is there? So I proced to pull all the bell housing bolts=bell slids about 1/2 and stops.I don't consider myself to be a amature wrench turner,matter of fact unless it involves having vehicle hooked to computer I do all my own work. I looked this tranny and bell over and over and it is clean should fall out.What am I missing?or do I need a bigger prybar.So anyway it started to rain/snow and I forefit to S-15. Has anyone else ever had this problem,Could the splines on the tranny be siezed to disk? As always Thanks for Help/input

is the clutch arm /throw out bearing fouling on the bad heavily worn clutch (fingers)??
OR the clutch face might be rusted to the flywheel...

#58820 04/06/2006 3:30 AM | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 63 Member | | Member Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 63 | Yes,pulled shifter,it acts like it hanging up on pressure plate or something inside bellhousing,thats why I was wondering if there is something to retain tranny to bell on the inside of the bellhousing-sounds stupid but i wouldn't put anything past the manufactures on some of the newer vehicles.If there is no retaining device then maybe the input-disk-throwout is screwed up and i better find a different tranny. #58821 04/06/2006 7:33 AM | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 926 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 926 | Maybe the pilot bearing is stuck on the input shaft?Clutch hub sticking on the splines?(my best guess) I'd try a prybar on each side between the tranny and bellhousing,and equal pressure on both sides,it'll probably resist,then TWANG-it'll pop loose.Not much you can damage this way...

So the first one must have had some sort of problem in the bell housing.This one was a little cheaper too,50.00 not bad.The only trouble i have is when i go in thease self service yards i always spot a hand full of other items i gotta have and leave spending a whole bunch more than i planned,funny my wife does the same thing every time she enters a Walmart.Any way thanks for the input and help Aaron | | |
