I have a 1966 Chevy i'm using for parts. It has a running engine, a 250 according to the po. The engine casting code, which is behind the distributor, begins with 'FO'. I have looked at inliners.org along with a few other websites, but I have not been able to find anything on a 'FO' stamp. Could any of you direct me to some other sources of information on inlines?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 734 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 734 | I think FO are probably the 1st two characters? My 292 #'s start with FO but, it's the last two characters (UH) that tell me it's a 292. Got any more characters? If you've got TA, TE, TF, SV, SW, SX then it's a 250.

'TA' is a 250 according to the link you gave me, Chuck. I guess that's how the numbers come out........no idea what the 'C' is for..... | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 662 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 662 | Or it's really a TAC out of a 73/4 Blazer. May be rebuilt/replaced. F = Flint 07 = month = July 05 = day TAC = 1973, 1974 Blazer/Jimmy 250 Look for a casting date code to find the year. These are V8 locatins, but the code is the same. http://www.mortec.com/location.htm
