old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 10 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 10 | Hello All! I just purchased my very first classic vehicle; a 1953 Chevy 3100 5-Window. She's a great vehicle and I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with her.
I'm hoping to learn a little more about my new purchase through the serial number and was wondering if anyone could help me decipher it? I checked the posts on this site, but none seem to match my serial. My pattern is 3 letters followed by 6 digits. Any thoughts?

Are there any other spots I could check on the truck for the truck's serial number? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 Moderator | | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,215 | Welcome K_Zoo, good to have you join us. Usually, new members check in here and introduce themselves, then post questions in the appropriate forum. Try general truck talk, you will get answers.
My '53 serial number starts with H53K, followed by 6 numbers. The H means half ton, the 53, you guessed it, is the year and the K, I believe is the assembly plant, I think it is Kansas city, not quite sure. The rest of the numbers is the sequence denoting when down the line yours was built, first truck is numbered 1001.
Best to post your question elsewhere to be sure my info is accurate.
