Hello everyone,
I'm new to the site and to vintage trucks. I have restored a number of cars and a truck, but this is my first "stovebolt". I'm looking to change from the stock 6 lug to a 5x5.5 or 5x4.75 pattern for more wheel choices... I have found front disc brake kits but what about the rear? Does anyone make a disc brake kit or a 5 lug rear drum that will work with the stock rear end? What are my options? Also, can anyone give some advice on the easiest way to lower the whole truck about 2-3" all around?

Thanks,
Jason

Welcome to the Bolt! I don't know of a kit that's available the stock rearend. Your best bet may be to swap it out for a later model like say a 10 bolt Camaro. If you want to keep the original spring setup you can lower it by getting mono leaf's or removing a couple of springs from each pack.

Thanks for the imput. After searching some I have found the drop front axle kit... Is there drop spindles available? Also, can I just install drop blocks on the rear axle or are the leafs the only way to go? I really didn't want to get into changing the axle, but if thats all there is...

.... i used the drop blocks on my 37 and have never had a problem. I'm not sure about the drop spindles so I'll be quite on that.

The drop blocks look like the way to go, they are cheap and simple. The dropped front axle doesn't look bad either, but I just thought spindles might be possible too.

I still have the 6 bolt and have found several options.
My truck is sorta a show truck and was kinda particular what kind of wheel I went to 20X10 with 255-45 tires.
