Of course this is on a V-8;probably different on a six.you might have to buy a new bracket;I've seen 'em advertised,so I know they're out there.

Slotting the holes didn't work, one of the holes ended up under one of the bracket uprights.

It's 1/2'' thick, 1-1/2''x 5'', two through holes and two threaded holes. although I'm running a 292 it's all the same

#56811 02/21/2006 4:20 PM | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 Ex Hall Monitor | | Ex Hall Monitor Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 | This may be an apples to oranges comparison but I ran into a mis-alignment problem on my 38 because I had the bracket the base of the generator bolts to mounted backward. I had the generator rebuilt and didn't mark the bracket when I took it off. It still bolted to the block OK but the holes were off just enough that it set the generator back a half pully width. If your bracket will bolt to the block both ways you might check to see if it's on backward.

My 292 had a double belt set up on it (the engine was from a '75 chevy 3/4 ton van) but the grooves had about half an inch between them. That might help;you might even have to move your alternator BACK a little with that one. I didn't see the pic on my previous response.YES-I think a pulley change can bring it into alignment.
