Hey fellas,
looking for some opinions. I have a 235cui 1957. I would like to get rid of my original distributor and convert to electronic. There is about a $150 dollar diffrence between the Langdon amd Mallory distributor. Does anyone have a preferance or experience with one or the other. Any pros/cons between them??? Any advice/opinions are appreciaited. THANKS! J.R. in VA

I do have a preference. Keep the OEM distributor and convert it to electronic ignition with a Pertronix kit, which is only around $75 and works so well, you'll never look back. I know it's not the answer you're looking for but it is an option.

I converted a '59 235 to Langdon HEI. Very nice. I had lots of problems during start-up and Langdon walked me through it. Great support. Turns out it was a faulty ignition switch and had nothing to do with his product.

I'm running a Mallory on mine. If you get the one that does not have a vacuum advance, you'll need to run the base timing about 15 degrees advanced for best performance. They also work bst with a spark control box as well, especially with the hotter coils.

I got mine from Langdon, pretty much plug-and-play. Very satisfied with it.

I have Tom's very first Mini HEI in my 46 and have never had a problem. Also running the pertronix unit in my 47 coupe and no probs either, just think the GM HEI puts out a hotter spark.
And would never go back to a points set up, this modern stuff is pretty much maintance free.

Go with Tom's mini HEI and round coil looks original and works great! Tom's a nice guy to deal with also. SJB
