Depends on the use, but a T-5 transmission may hold up fine? Probably the cheapest and simplest way to get OD in that truck.

T-5 will definitely hold up if it's the WC (world class) that uses ATF for fluid.

I wouldnt think any T-5 would hold up in a 1 1/2 ton truck, espescially if its being used as a truck.

You are right, I overlooked that important point.

I think it could hold up, as I hinted at earlier it depends on the use.
A 41 1.5 ton is not that big a truck and the stock 6 cylinder is not all that strong.

If the truck is never loaded and just goes to shows and parades then the T-5 probably has a chance.

If used as a truck then it may not last, or you'd have to be careful how you drive, but you can buy several more T-5 transmissions for what they want for a gear vendors...

if it has say a 300 gallon water tank and its full you just added 2500 lbs to the gvw. with the ashton full of water(500 gal)and no equipment on it weighs in at 14100 lbs and is rated to 16000 with equipment added on. big difference in operation and stopping power from no water to full of water. rarely do i ever carry large amounts of water. what are the hills like in maine?
