I did not realize that the center strip sits in like a little well. Once I weld up the seem what should I use to fill that back in? Lead, bondo, fiberglass...etc. Looking for ideas.

I took mine completely apart and repainted it and then put it back together with new rivets. You can get new center strips painted or stainless from the sponsor vendors. There are lottsa opinions on the longevity of a welded up seam and crackin of the filler later on.
Mine came Bondo'ed up and cracked it took me a full day to remove all the crap that was in there from the P.O. and I went with a stainless strip down the center ...I really like the look, but it is YOUR truck do what trips your trigger and enjoy it!
All I will say is at todays highway speeds of 65mph my hood shakes a little and a little shake will eventually lead to a crack in bought ANY filler used.

I was also thinking it would be worth adding supports on the underside of the truck.
Being that it has a 216 in it and gears that could pull stumps, 65 is not in its future..... I wish it was but the dually setup stinks for me, but the cab is in such great shape I figured I would build it just the same. | | |
