guys, take a look at the picture on this link. i have a truck, with no wiper arm, but the vacuum pump works and the shaft moves when the engine runs. let me know if i need a new assembly, or if i need the arm only. thanks

ok, so what should i do, do i need a new wiper motor? or can this be repaired. im looking to see if anyone has a picture of a intact wiper assembly so i can see for myself how much damage there is so anyone with one let me know. thanks

yes you need a new wiper motor the damage is you're missing a half inch of the end of the main shaft that's the 'heart' of the motor and the part the wiper arm needs to attach to - not a repairable sorta thing .... picture

OK thankyou for your input. i appreciate it. it just seems odd to me how the end of the shaft on the truck is tapered and doesnt seem to have any broken parts off of it. but i will do further research into this and see what i can figure out. thanks again

probably the 1st thing to do is get a correct wiper arm, then you can see how it fits, or not .... should be a flat ended shaft out beyond the bezel nut that holds the wiper on, either has a hole for a pin/set screw, or knurling like a more modern setup .... what year truck?

the truck is a 1942. its a fire engine. its still got the vacuum motor in it , and it works well thats why im so dissapointed. i have just started tinkering with this at our fire station so i dont know any prior history on it or why the arm is gone.

Hello, I figured I would just revive this older thread because it has all the info already as well as pics.

I have the same end on my wiper motor as the 2 pictured in this thread. The second picture looks exactly like my wiper motor.

Mine appears the same-not broken. If it is not broken, how would a wiper arm attach and turn the wiper arm? Friction?
The end looks like brass. I can see that there is knurling holding this small piece on the shaft, it could be removed easily.

I can't vouch for that wiper directly but I will say that the ones I ordered from Jim for my 53 was right and good quality.

I figured it out. It is broken. red58 is correct (sorry for doubtin ya)
It is just not obvious when you have it in hand because where it is broken has a clean break and the area is VERY thin. Horrible design.
FriedGreenTmater, I'm just going to go with Jim's 6 volt motor set up. He hasn't let me down yet.
