Speedway has something close to what I’m after but I want something with bigger wings and don’t really care for the knob type. Thanks for any leads.

They are huge with long wings that taper to a point and all shiny chrome...pure retro stuff. http://www.thefind.com/hardware/info-cover-wing-nutsStuart

All of the styles 6-12 should be nice. I'd stay away from the zinc or pressed steel ones. Grigg | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 |

But, but, I'd sure like to know where in the world did you find all of that stuff???? It's hard to believe all of that engine dressing survived all these years, I lived back in the day and read all the old mags from cover to cover each month. Honk, Rod & Custom, Car Craft etc. and I don't even remember seeing a lot of those accessories back then. In all of the swap meets that I've been to in the last three or four years I can't recall seeing any of that. Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

Do you know which if any vintage valve covers came with wing nuts? I saw a set on e bay a while back with tall, airplane style wings and am kicking myself I didn’t act on those. Are they really rare or am I just not looking in the right place? The polished acorn nuts on there now look pretty good but I like those wings.

One old truck I bought had a lot of junk in the back when I bought it. I cleaned the big stuff out and found the original air cleaner. Then I swept it out and looked through the dirt and found the original wing nut for the air cleaner. It made me feel real lucky. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 | Denny - I actually made a bunch of the stuff you see. I had to, I couldn't find any of it and so I made it the way I wanted it. There is more to the story on each part that can best be summed up by saying, I've had the truck for 30 years and it took that long to get it where it is. Curt - I bought the things on eBay several years back. I haven't seen any lately and, like you, I should have bought all I saw, but I always stop short and say to myself, "I only need two."
