He asked me if I wanted to take it for a drive. OH MY GOD, did it bring back memories. I bought mine in 1973 and a lot of memories came flooding back as I drove the thing around the block. From racing it at the drags to my old girl friend next to me. It is just as mine was (minus the chopped top) when I drove it to high school. Mine was pumped but it has the stove bolt and a floor shift three speed (I put a muncie in mine after about a year driving it). But it is all stock as far as the interior just as mine is going to be again. Oh my God, I was out in the garage over the weekend to get my Gran Sport going and out of my life so I can get back to my "Dream Truck". I have a couple of kids and with work I find it hard to get out in the garage and work. Over the weekend I busted my butt on that car. I thanked my co-worker today that asked him to drive his truck to work every month or so to keep me fired up. This truck is SWEET, it drives like an S-10, what a nice truck! The suspension is all stock save for a dropped axle in the front and lowering blocks out back. I have to tell you, I was REAL impressed with how sweet this thing drove. Man do I miss driving something like that! Brian Click on the link to see his beautiful truck. http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa167/BasicsofBasics/100_9436.jpg

That said, I think your wise to get the Grand Sport out of your life. Its sort or like women. You know what the song says..... I am still blown away at how nice this thing drove. The motor, the shifting, the steering, it was so darn smooth it was almost like it had an automatic it shifted so nice. I forgot was a lot of torque can do. You don't have to bring the RPM up, you just let off the gas, push in the clutch shift and let out the clutch, this all happens with the motor at 500 RPM or something. It is like the motor isn't even running, it is just so darn smooth I can't get over it. Brian

I ran into him at a restaurant in Dallas in 1984 and asked him whatever happened to the old truck. He said he still drove it on the farm. He said he could come up to some new trucks stuck in the mud and, "just put it in 2nd gear and putt, putt right on by them."
