yall might remember a post i made for a truck that was for sale about a month ago, here's the info....

all original 66 c10 short wide bed. 250 inline six with 3 speed manual on the colomn.

the engine bay is beautiful. it has been repainted, along with the engine and tranny. no tampering at all with the mechanical work. engine runs great and tranny shifts smooth.

outside body work completed and completely primed. no rust outside of the truck except inside the bed, which needs new wood and strips.
undercarriage cleaned and painted black.

inside, alot of rust holes in many areas on the floor board, needs reupholstery for the seat. everything worn out a bit, but still functioning.

two previous owners, both old guys. the second old guy that has it now has done all the work on it. before him it was unmolested. but he has done a great job with everything hes done with it so far.

*****anyways, before i had asked if the price he was asking was too high ($2800). now its been a month of waiting and ive talked him down to $2,300. what do u all think? still too much or worth buying? worse case senario, if i had to sell it could i get my money back on it at $2,300?

What are you looking for, an investment or are you fulfilling a desire to have a historic vehicle to drive? What would it cost you to get another vehicle to the condition this one is in?
Compare to price of other vehicles of the same sort and condition.
Remember, only two people have to be happy with the deal...the buyer and the seller, everyone else is just noise.

A truck like that is restored or a total junk heap in these parts. $2,300? It is a bit of money. But I paid more than that for my 46 and it did not even run.

Like Almega said, buyer and seller, if they are happy...that's all that counts. I would spend my money again. I never feel like I got ripped off. You won't either if you like the truck as much as I like mine.

Take the plunge and enjoy it.

Sixties sixes don't bring a lot down here but most any truck is worth $1500-2000 if it runs and is all there....Part value. May be different in IdeeHO. :p

When you have to have something, money is no object. I've wasted more money than that over the years just buying parts for old trucks. I'm kind of a perfectionist so when I decide to fix something I fix it right, cost be damned. I've got way more money in my daily driver than it cost to buy, but that's the way of the old truck life. I would say if you like the truck and the price won't hurt your finacial situation, buy it. What ever you buy will always end up costing you a whole lot more in the long run.

I have missed out on owning alot of cool vintage iron. I always thought the prices were too high and passed. Now I wished that I would have bought those trucks because now trucks in the same condition are twice as much as they were and the price is going to go up!
If it is the truck you always wanted then I say buy it! If a better one comes along you can always sell the first one and buy the better one. Just don't get caught without one.

I think you always gotta be leery of anything that's got fresh paint on it, primed or otherwise. Recent paint can hide a lot of stuff.
Did you look hard at the areas where these trucks typically rust i.e. the front fenders right behind the wheels, the rockers, the cab corners, the lower door skins, around the top of cab? Was bad metal replaced with patch panels or were rust holes filled with Bondo? If the floor's all rusted out, you know plenty of other stuff was or is rusted out.
Hard to say without seeing it but, based on what you're saying, I might go $2000 IF, there's new metal on the body and not a bunch of filler.
There's a lot of 60's trucks out there!

It is an old trick. I also bought my 54 in fresh primer, they look sooooo good. I got lucky in that there was no rust under the primer. I would check for rust in your case as well.

Murdoc, check out Woogs article in the tech section, good article on these trucks, might be a help to you,, you just have to decide if the price is right for you, dont think anyone but you can decide as some have already mentioned,,good luck,,,regards,,Fred

thanks alot guys.....i pulled the money today and was going to buy it but after reading your comments i thought it would be good to wait a bit thanks for great advice, ill at least wait a bit before taking the plunge
