I haven't had a bolt I couldn't get out til now. The 6 bolts holding the front bumper brackets to the frame won't move. Its a 53 and I don't think they've ever come off. I tried PB Blaster, a propane torch, and wrenches with a breaker bar. Nothing will move the thing. Any tricks for getting this thing off short of cutting the head off the bolt??

I had the same thing on my '70 GMC. I tried but ended up bending or snapping all of them, but I would try this stuff called Liquid Wrench. It works pretty well.

try a few applications of rust remover (wink,clr)on a rag soaking on the bolt. Then WD-40 after all the visable rust and gunk is gone. If that doesn't work ? Work on one until you find a solution,good luck.

Impact gun. Or, save some trouble and go ahead and cut them off. Replacement bolts are easy to get.

Whatever you find that does work, let us all know how you did it so we can know too.

If Kroil won't loosen the bolts, better get out a grinder or a nut splitter!

they aren't stuck you just haven't used a big enough hammer.

If you don't need to save them just wrench on them until they either unscrew or twist off. They are only 1/2" bolts right?

Otherwise PB Blaster and time, or if that's not enough persuasion some serious heat should do the trick.

Use a breaker bar and tighten them until they snap off. Then get new ones,

Propane does not give off the heat that an oxy acetylene torch does. Thats always worked for me. Worse comes to worse cut them off.

I cut the nuts off, I cut the heads off. The thing still won't budge. I got out a grade 8 bolt the same size and a sledge hammer and its still stuck in there. Who assembled these trucks?!

Drill it out

In cutting it out you probably welded the thing in there. It sounds like Murphys Law to me.

I only cut one of the bolts, the others still wouldn't come out with the heads intact. I ended up slowly increasing the drill bit size til there wasn't much left than was able to pound the bolt out with a hammer. Only 5 more to go

you didnt use a large enough hammer. Usually a 5# fist maul and lots of pent up anger is all it takes to punch a bolt out with a drift after taking a grinder to the head

Well, I finally was able to get all 6 of the bolts out. I had to cut off the heads on all of them.

I used a sledgehammer and a pole that came to a blunt point on the end to punch them out. By the end, plenty of pent up anger was showing its colors.

I was making so much racket that a neighbor yelled over "You're not supposed to break it!"

Should'a told your neighbor to get off his butt, and help ya. Then he'd see how hard you were workin', and he would keep his mouth shut. Ha.

By the way, I have to do the very same thing as you, because I tried to take one of my bumper bolts out the other day, and she wouldn't budge. Not lookin' forward to it, but I want my new bumper on.

Heat nut red hot with oxy-acetylene AND ALLOW TO COOL, if this doesn't get it cut em off and get new ones
