I bought a new gas pedal. Appears i am missing some pieces to complete the job. Their is a piece at the base of that gas pedal that looks like it bolts to some sort of ball socket. Any help would be great thanks.

My '53 has a pivot pin that goes through a bracket on the floor. No ball socket.

The gas pedal they sent me goes on the ball on the end of the throttle linkage then down to like a u shaped piece that would accept a bolt. Mounted on the floor is a bracket thats flat and looks like some sort of ball goes into it. Anyone give me a clue?

akroadzombies,

Your description is correct. In 1953-1957, the ball at the top of the linkage-rod goes into a socket at the top of the pedal, and there is a pin/rod that goes through through the holes on the sides of the bracket on the floorboard and through the the bracket at the base of the pedal.

I'm not sure if this applies but my '52 has a plate or bracket that looks like this
The picture doesn't show the whole bracket but it has two holes with a pin that holds the base of the pedal to the floor. Hope this gives you some perspective.
