I have a 1951 3100 with 216cid, It runs fine and I have had
all the body work done and want to make it a driver. I have
read all about how to get more speed out of the 235 and can
find add-on intakes to put 4 barrelcarb on. But can't find
any info on 4 barrel intake for a 216, or are the both the same?
any help or ideas would be much appreciated

Contact Stoveboltengineco.com

The 216 according to all cannot handle anything more than the Carb it came with .

The 235 has so many advantages for power and upgrades .

Just my observation

Dave, best thing you can do for more highway speed is get a higher rear end gear or overdrive trans. The 235 intake can work on your 216, has slightly larger intake runners, I ran one on my 261 for many years. But the 235 intake will not mate up to your stock 216 exhaust, so you can use fentons or just use a 235 exhaust.
Also you may want to check out www.inliners.org

In it's time, Offenhauser made a 2 carb intake for the 216 as well as the 235, but they are not the same as there is a difference in intake port diameter. The 216 has smaller ports.I think the Offy part numbers were: 216=1032 235=1034 I'm not sure how today's repros are numbered.

The original 1951 3100 rear end is a 4.11

Use the search feature on +3.55 +rear and you will find a lot to read about a common rear end conversion.

Patrick's catalog lists a 2x1 Offy for a 216 part #1034 also list 3:55 ratio rear end gears for your truck. You need to get their catalog, lots of GOOOOOD info. 216 intake is a bit of a different animal than one for a 235 but both will bolt up as I said. I'd just start collecting catalogs from ALL the vendors so you can see what's out there. Patrick's, Langdon's Stovebolt, Chevs of the 40s etc etc. And read this entire website/tech tips and the same over at Inliners.org.
