I am preparing to remove the engine/tranny from my new project. It looks like it is going to be a very tight squeze. Can the combo be removed or do I need to remove the tranny first?

I like to pull the trans. first unless you have a lot of the body parts off anyhow.

I have pulled the radiator and support, fan, generator, grill, engine shock mount bolts and top tranny cover. My shop manual is for a 51 with a 52 suplement and it was silent on removing the tranny first. Unless someone has some other advice I think removing it would be the fastest way out.

With the front end sheetmetal gone I see no reason why you need to remove the transmission. I assume it is a 4 speed. On the other hand it is not really all the difficult to unbolt the tranny from the bellhousing and leave it in the chassis. Either way would work OK.
