anybody know if and why '47s '48s Chevy trucks 1/2t had lights below the headlights and also in the grill? Were they signal dealer installed or what. My '48 had the lights I thought the po installed but when I removed the light base there was a perfect hole (3/4") drilled in both fenders. I have also seen other photo of trucks like mine with same type of lights in same place.
Anybody ever run up on that?

Mike,
You are referring to lights below the headlight, in the grill, and on the top of the fenders?
Any chance you could post a photo? People have been very creative in the location and the style of additional lights.
- In the grill were Chevrolet truck parking lamps.
- Below the headlights on GMC trucks (and 1954/55 Chevrolet trucks) were parking lamps.
- On the top of the fenders was a common location for after-market directional signals.

A good craftsman did a neat installation would be my thought. Several suppliers now offer a dual contact socket for the parking light so you can have turn signals also.

If you're after originality, you'll probably want to take them out. On the other hand, if the job was done neatly, and you're OK with them, leave them in there.

It must have been an aftermarket things that was common sometime ago.

I'm not sure If I like them or not, so Ill just fill them in and use the double contact socket in the grill.I have done this many times before.
