I bought a 63 last month and i am looking at a 62 for parts. I want to find out what engine is in the 62. Is there any good book recomendations for a beginner such as me? thanks.

for books, try the list here under links>publications - lots of possibles for a newbie, like Gunnell's and Brownell's general history books - also might get the shop manual for your year, available from most repro parts dealers

It depends on what you need from it. The engines won't swap, the front suspensions are of two totally different designs, the hood and grill are different too. Body wise, most of the sheet metal and glass will interchange. Good luck with your projects and it's good to see someone from (sort of) my neck of the woods joining in. Welcome,

It is a 2 ton truck and the block looks bigger than mine so Im guessing its the 261. It is always good to communicate with like interested people especially in the land of rust.
