I had planned on using a Lokar petal and linkage but after reading the directions you can get on line I believe I might do better with a stock set-up from a 70s/80s vehicle. Has anyone had experience with this kind of petal for their ride?

I used the complete pedal and linkage out of a '76 Nova. This was on a pickup with a 350/350 combo. It worked great and as I recall, was easy to install. There is a bracket with a punched square hole that mounts on the carburetor hold down bolts. This is where the plastic sheath of the wire throttle linkage goes as well as the tranny kickdown linkage. The gas pedal bolted to the firewall quite easily.

I used the Lokar peddle / cable on my 327 with Edelbrock carb. Easy install, clean look, comes with mounting brackets for carb.

What was the stock number?

Look on any mid '70s (give or take) Chevy "C" series. The only difference between the pedal assemblies for the 6cyls and V8s is the length of the cable! It is a hanging style pedal that comes out with just two screws for the whole assembly! Get the carb bracket too, even id just to use as a pattern or modify. What I did was to measure the height of the pedal bottom in the stock location so I would know how high to mount the pivot on my firewall. It is so easy it'll amaze you. Get the newest one you can. The pivot block is some kind of plastic and does wear.

I also used a mid 70's (78 I think) cable and pedal. I used the one that has three self-tapping screws and screwed it right to the firewall. I had to bent and tweak the pedal rod some to get it just right, but nothing serious. I then drilled a hole in the firewall right behind the upper part of the pedal rod for the cable. I filed it square and until the cable snapped into it securely and attached the other end to the carb. I think it took me longer to type this that to actually do it,

Scott has it dead on the head! The "C" Note+ for the Lokar stuff can be better spent in many other places on your truck.

3600 - Not sure of stock #. This is a standard, universal unit from their cataloge. Mounts on firewall. Can order matching pedals for brake & hi-beam switch as well

I use the cable off a Ford. It has the return spring as an integral part of the cable so no separate bracket and return spring are needed. It also uses a round hole in the firewall which is easier than making the square one for a GM cable.

Here's the gas pedal I used.
I can't remember what make it is. I bought it at a swap meet 2 years ago!
The throttle cable was a universal 'cut to fit' Spectre unit bought from Autozone.
