Now I am going to change out the rear end for a 52 powerglide to get a better gear ratio. The 52 has 5 hole 15" wheels and I want to keep my new 16" tires and wheels. There is not enough material on the axle flange to redrill the larger 6 hole pattern. Does anyone have a better idea? I know I could buy yet another rear end from a 48 or older car but I am trying to avoid the expense and the work of doing that. Thanks for any help. Dale | | |

The axle flange is only 6 1/8" wide. That only leaves 1/16" of material outside of the bolt hole. I called Moser Engineering and they said redrilling was not possible. I suppose they may be concerned about product liability and I wonder if it would work if I could find a machine shop to do it. Dale | | |

All of the radial load is on the hub. There is no radial force against the lugs. Therefore, I can see no reason why re-drilling would be a problem. | | |
