I was ordering some new knobs for my dash and while i was searching on jim carters i realized that it says that 1952 trucks have maroon knobs but in my truck it has black knobs. Just wondering if anybody knew for sure what color they should be.

Yes, knobs changed to maroon plastic in 1952 (probably as soon as the older knobs ran out).

from what Jim Carters parts book says knobs were stainless over maroon from 1947-1953 and in 1954-55 they changed over to black knobs. Is there anyway that black knobs could have already been used in 1952. This truck has been in the family since about 1954 and nobody recalls ever having the maroon knobs.

These kinds of anomalies are reported frequently with no logical explanation, leaving the Command Decision up to you.

From what I have gathered the knobs should be maroon, and the bright work is mostly polished stainless steel. It is possible to have Chrome bright work or black knobs? yep. I would guess it is possible to have mixed color knobs in a vehicle. Say they had installed the factory chrome wiper knob, they wouldn't spend the time to pull it to match the maroon dash knobs. Like Woody said the Command decision is yours to make. For what it is worth in my 52 all the knobs are maroon. The wiper, dash, vent, and door knobs all match.

what color is your grill?

Joker Are you asking me or Wingert? Mine has been repainted a couple of times. It is blue and cream, with a white pin stripe. Why do you ask?

If you're asking me i have a creamy white grill. Again why would you like to know? Thanks Jimmie i think i will change all my knobs over to the maroon ones. Could somebody also give me a list on all the knobs to change or anything else on the dash. So far i have thought of the choke, throttle, headlight knob, wiper knob and maybe even the gearshift knob on the three on the tree

how about the ash tray "knob" and the one that goes on the air vent handle.

Not sure what Jim Carter book your looking at, but mine says only the heater knob has stainless over maroon. All the others are maroon. From what i have gathered all 52-53 knobs are the same. Cecil...........

Wingert, The only knob I had trouble finding was the maroon ashtray knob. I looked for over a year. ( I didn't know about the SBP ) I had to buy the ashtray/speaker grill to get it.
