My 70' GMC 1500 has a 350 in it with valve covers that say 350 Target Motor and are like the GM blue, but there are other parts of the block that are orange like they used to come.

I've installed a couple of them for people, still going strong as far as I know. They are your basic plain jane 350. Can't remember what color mine was. Seems to me the valve covers were black?

It was a new long block. They are called Goodwrench engines now, but is basically the same thing. Back then the 350 was $525. The 292 was $550. If the parts are a different color they were used off the old engine.

Later the name and the color changed, but they were still new, not remanufactured engines. I think the Goodwrench crate engines had various high performance options instead of being just a stock replacement.
