In the past,,ive taken mine apart(carefully) and cleaned out all the hardened grease, and put it back together with Vaseline.
Most of the time it works,,sometimes it doesnt.
Good Luck,

I ended up just paying the man. It works better than I imagined it would. Are you using the original style short wiper blades, bigger blades use more power. Plus, the vacuum wiper sounds so cool.

Paul, welcome to the Bolt. Maybe try the question in General Truck talk forum for more responses. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Good idea about asking the question is General Truck Forum. But Welcome and hope you get them fixed. Love to hear you keep it original.
Mine work just fine but you have to work with them. Going down the road on a rainy day you might as well drive a little slower so you will notice when you take your foot off the gas the wipers will work real good, but go up a hill or accelerate and you got to go blind. LOL Make sure you use Raindex on the windows and you can go a while before you even have to put them on. Ya It sure is fun listening to the wipers and the engine noice on a rainy day. Can't hear much more.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and the advice. Tried the vaseline and it helped. Now I'll put arms and wipers on. Regards
