It says that all you need is a pump and PS steering box from a later model. Does this work? Most folks go to a newer column because it bolts to the newer PS box, and it has tilt. I would add that you probably will want to change out that huge old steering wheel for a smaller, newer one. I used the IDIDIT chrome column, but you can get something from the junk yard a lot cheaper. IDIDIT has real live knowledgable people you can talk to if you get in a jam. If you have a box frame, the REZ adapter plate noted above will need some frame fabrication. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 | On the other side I prefer the stock column with my PS conversion. It's pretty simple to cut off and rework the end to accept the steering shaft. My reasons are; the original column and wheel looks..  .. well.. "original", I never tilt the column even in vehicles that have factory tilt, and I like the Signal-Stat 900 switch just fine. My '59 Apache has a Cadillac column and power steering gear box (from a previous owner). To me, it doesn't look right. That is one of the first things that I want to improve this year after I get it back on the road.
I may try and go with a '68 column (if I can find one) as another "Bolter" suggested. But back to original would okay also.

I have read that a lot of guys are using columns out of Chevy Vans but not sure what years. I think may around 84 and the van columns give you tilt and "no key".
