This is not guaranteeing that its one of these manufacturers, as there are endless possibilities. Back in the day, anything was done to make what you needed to get the job done. In my case, or, in the truck I'm eying up's case (long story), the ram/pump was pulled from a junkyard, taken to a welding shop, and custom fabricated to make a hoist/dump body for the truck (IE, the pump and ram could have been 20-30 years old in the 1950s, who knows). Anything is possible, but that is a start.

yep its pto and my brothers is a 41 chevy dumper not a grain [box] truck , and has a PTO n cable to put in / and release, method

53MONEYPIT I will try to get a pics this afternoon. the only name is on the dump valve I believe it says Harsh Hoist but may only apply to the pump the ram is huge with two hoses off it one at the bottem one at the top each goes into a odd manifold that attaches to the ram and looks like it ports into the cylider at two places in each manifold the top goes to a vent cap and the bottem goes to the pump the pump is a one way only gravity return (or down) the ram is mounted on the frame and pushes on a pivot arm that has two solid rams going back to the bed and the bed has pivot points at the very rear

Your pump has been changed to a much later unit. Is it inside a reservoir with the driveshaft going directly to the pump input shaft? If so then you have a piston pump that is capable of a LOT more pressure than your old piston cylinder will withstand. Harsh likely came into being after your hoist was retired. Anyway please send the pictures.

I have found out it is not a harsh hoist heil hoists nolonger do dumps but sent me to TBE-duraclass wich used to be Heil dump hoists and waiting for a answer any help would be great

I've got a 51 Chevy 2 Ton 6100 series that needs some body parts. Looking for inner and outer cowls for both sides at firewall. Mine are pretty much gone. Help

Your pump appears to be a Williams 4 piston model and the hoist is definately low pressure. Tie rod cylinders don't take a lot of pressure but you pump will develope up to 3000 psi. There is a relief valve on the pump that should not be set above 1000-1200 psi. The pump will never exceed what is required to make the piston move but with a lot of resistance (work) for it to overcome your pump could blow it to pieces so it is a matter of safety that the relief valve be set correctly. It may be either adjustable or non-adjustable.

Your directional valve appears to be a correct 3 way valve. Check your hoses too for condition and pressure type.

Incidentally, those two "solid rams going back to the bed" are called the lift arms. When hoisting and in the full up position they along with the pivot arms form a triangle which provides the mechanical advantage. It is a quite old hoist so be careful when using it, it may have stress cracks, etc.

Sounds great. Hey maybe you can help a new green member on a question about my ? 1953! 2 Ton 6100 (16,000GVW). What does COE stand for on ID of the truck. It states that it is a 53, 6100, 2 ton, dump COE

Not sure where you're getting the COE, it usually means Cab Over Engine which is a 5000 model not a 6100. 6100 is a 2 ton with a 137 inch wheel base. Take a look at the COEs in the Gallery.
