Back in the day, anything was done to make what you needed to get the job done. In my case, or, in the truck I'm eying up's case (long story), the ram/pump was pulled from a junkyard, taken to a welding shop, and custom fabricated to make a hoist/dump body for the truck (IE, the pump and ram could have been 20-30 years old in the 1950s, who knows). Anything is possible, but that is a start.
