Im looking to install a T5 in my 52 (behind a 54 235) and was wondering if there is any difference in using a T5 out of a 97 f-body car with the 3.8 compared to earlier versions. I know it uses a electronic speedometer setup, which is fine with me. Anything else?

Oh and im going with a f-body transmission so I don't need to modify the input shaft. My truck has bucket seats so Im fine with the shifter being farther back than stock.

The later T5's have the Ford mounting pattern and wont do you much good, however I have heard that they have the room to drill the GM pattern on the lower tabs.

thanks Scott, good thing to know. I was at the local yard two weeks ago trying to remove a t5 out of a 98 camaro. I had everything unbolted and unhooked but it would not budge. Couldn't get it off the bell housing. The throwout bearing must have been frozen onto the transmission. I ended up leaving it because I didn't have a short 18mm to remove the bell housing from the engine. Good thing to know that I didn't get it out.

so up to what year can I use?

up to 92 on F-bodies, up to 94 on S-10's. The 94 S-10s are rumored to have the Ford Pattern as well. However Like I stated, the lower ears may have enough room to re-drill the 2 holes for the GM pattern. This is getting into the area of knowledge by others area and not first hand.
