I never could figure out how to connect the throttle cable up to my carb/accelerator linkage. Does anyone else with a art deco coe have a picture or a schematic of how this is done? The cable I got is too long so I know that I will have to cut it to fit. Any help would be appreciated. Bill

Mines a GMC w/zenith carb, but theoretically they should be similar. Ill snap a few shots and post them for you.

In this picture the throttle cable does not attach to the carb and I havent attached the new cables yet. Theres also a spring mission which puts a little more tension on the rod assembly. Carb connection Heres the attachments to the carb. The throttle attaches through the accelerator rod after its pushed through the arm that opens the flap inside the carb. Hope that helps. Let me know if you need more. The Carters might be a little different, but should act almost the same. Your set up is slightly different than mine but close enough for me to see I may have my choke cable attached in the wrong place. Mine is clamped to the spring/bracket assembly on the firewall. It attaches correctly to the carb (the choke cable works properly)but I may be missing a cable clamp on the carb. If this is the case I can use the that clamp for the throttle cable however I don't see any place for cable wire to attach. All I would need is a small hole in the bracket and that should do it. I will look at it some more tomorrow when I get home from work. I tried to take a picture of my set up but with the radiator so close you really can't see much. Thanks, Bill

I have the Carter BB1 carb and the choke cable attaches on the inside of the carb, between the carb and the block. The accelerator rod attaches on the outside. My thought of connecting the throttle cable to the linkage/spring assembly on the firewall won't work as it appears it would restrict the accelerator. So at this point I am still in need of some help. Hopefully maybe there is someone that has the same truck/setup that can help with a picture or more information.

If so, the throttle cable attaches to a little tab that is on the throttle rod that goes down to the carb. You will have to adjust it so it does not pull up on the rod when the throttle cable is pushed all the way in. It atttaches with just a simple clamp like a Brigg & Stratton throttle. That way, when you pull the cable, it pulls the throttle rod up. I can send pics if you need some to your email. | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 1,393 Camp Commandant | Camp Commandant Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 1,393 | I sent you a pm. I would like to see your set up. If nothing else it may give me an idea. I took pictures of mine to post but it is so tight between the radiator and the firewall I don't think they would be any help for this discussion. Thanks for your help. Bill

Take a look at this link http://good-times.webshots.com/album/569610193atWFaJ?vhost=good-timesMy truck had a 1950 235 engine and matching intake manifold. Look through the pictures I think it show the cable running down the front of the firewall and in along the drivers side of the valve cover, then kind of snakes over the intake and around behind to connect to the carburator. On my truck the bracket that comes off the manifold was not there. Had it been I think it would have been a little easier to figure out. The only cable clamp on mine was the one on the accel. linkage. I just assumed that was the one for the choke. Also, on yours it looks like the accelerator return spring is down by the carb, correct? On mine it connects to a tab on the manifold and was attacthed to that tab on the accelerator rod. Thats the way it was when I tore mine apartso that the way I put back together. I was down in the shop tonight and got everything hooked up. It works great. Another one of those pesky little things done that I had put off for so long. Thanks to all for the help.
