I remember seeing a couple post by him a couple weeks ago. Not sure where he got them but they're probably all coming from the same spot. You may want to put an ad in the swapmeet and see if anyone has some good originals...or watch EvilBay for some NOS.
I think Ron welded his?? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | When I was putting my truck together, my supplier stopped carrying the new ones. He said that he couldn't get a quality latch. He also said that he may eventually have some good used ones. I ended up buying some NOS ones on Ebay. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 425 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 425 | What they said. The "new" latches are all JUNK. Make friends with a machinist, then have him/her re-build your latches for you. You can buy springs for them that work pretty well, and the repair clips that go on the catch mechanism work pretty good. I'd say order all of the parts for them you can then see what you can do. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 | yes i had mine fall apart. they are press fitted and won't take much slamming to break. i had them welded. i got mine from brothers and they replaced one at no charge and it fell apart sooner than the other one.
