what I've seen regarding the Huck droms: "these are getting very hard to find new, and used drums are usually worn oversized. The best advice is to not turn drums unless absolutely necessary. When our trucks were in everyday use, drums were almost never turned and rarely presented problems.
If grooves are cut into drums from over-worn riveted linings, new linings will eventually seat into the grooves. If the grooves are really deep, it is time to go hunting for new drums. One of my parts trucks had a drum split along a rivet groove. This is a good argument for installing bonded linings - no rivets to gouge drums."
you might search for some used and get lucky

Might have to search out some Bendix types. This will require some of the holes in the spindles to be enlarged. As far as performance with the Huck style goes, I have always had adequate braking. Then again I don't drive fast. Bill

Still, where did you see these drums? Any for the 3/4 ton?
Gary
P.S. I had to replace the manifold on my old Ford tractor and could only get a Chinese copy. The first one I got had a casting hole right through it. The company made good and the replacement has been on the tractor for several years with no problems. I know: brakes are more critical.

I haven't heard any complaints about the new drums. I am sure I have seen other vendors selling them too. If I could get new drums for my 51 1 Ton, I would be jumping for joy!

Chev of the 40s seems to have 6 lug drums. I will call them but am not hopeful.
Still searching. | | |
