Can anyone give me advice on puting a electric fan on my 235. I had to raise the raditor up a little to get the front end up, and now the fan hits the lower hose.

Buy a good one, pay attention to the cfm listed on the fan. Most electrics can't push as much air as a mechanical.

If the fan is only hittting the hose by a small amount you could just cut the fan down.

if it dosen't need fixed, break it

I have a 52 chevy pu with a 59 235 engine and a electric 14" pusher fan mounted in front of the radiator. Mount the fan as high on the radiator as the fan mounts will allow. And 1/2 inch space between the radiator and fan blades. I bought a SPAL 14 inch. However as far as fan controls go I did not go with their 50.00 dollar controls. Went to Auto Zone and got the adjustable controls.
Fan fits great in front of the the radiator and the hood latch metal plate helps direct the air.
With a 160 degree therm the engine holds a steady 165 degrees even on the hottest days.

Owlybear, looks as if you have received some great answers. just curious as to why you need the electric fan, I have a 52 with a 235, live in tx and drive the truck everyday, never comes close to heating up.I may need one soon , thinking about installing vintage air, would a 235 pull the air ok or should I forget it? Thanks,Fred

If you raised the radiator to the right hight for sheet metal to fit correctly and now the fan hits. Could be your front motor mount is shot. You can always raise the engine some to clear the hose. Add a spacer to the front mount, the slight raise will not effect the driveline much. Joe

Thanks for the information. I think the motor mounts are low. I'm going to check it out but I still think that a electric is the best bet for now.

you could have the radiator shop move the neck on radiator but I decided on a shorter flex fan when doing my 37 pickup but the smaller fan did't quite do the job so I then put as wide an electric fan as the radiator would take and put me a small switch inside. I don't run it unless I need to which is usually parades on hot days. there is always so many ways to do things and so many opinions!
