The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Panels 'N Burbs Vent window trouble

I replaced the rubber on my vent windows 4 years ago and I have never been able to get the windows installed right. They both slip out at the top where the rivet is supposed to hold the assembly in place. Does anyone have a diagram or some useful info? It's a 59 suburban.

garretthes: I'm almost positive their is a good article in the tech tip section on this. It goes into some pretty good detail. I, myself, am about to take mine out before the doors go to the body man.

That's a good article but it doesn't show how the hardware goes on the pivot shaft once it's installed. There is a spring, nut and several washers. What about the rivet that sticks out the top?

Garrett ... bottom of page are pics of different points on the vent assy - the washers, especially the eccentric shaped one, are important - the spring tensions the glass frame so it stays in position up/down, the top pivot peg just floats in the hole there [clic a pic for larger, use "zoom" there to see full size]
