Is it possible to convert my straight L6 a.k.a 235ci engine into a fuel injection engine ? I've loooked into diffrent conversion system but have'nt found any kind of bolt on system .

I think I would start out with some sort of TBI system. When I get my shop built this will be one of the first projects I will attempt.

I seem to recall reading something about altering a fuel injection system from a 4.3l V6, but that may be dust blowing around upstairs.

Don't the COE's use an updraft intake manifold and carburetor for body clearance? It would probably be possible to run a TBI unit upside down in place of a carburetor and adapt the necessary sensors to run it. Interesting idea!

In August a fellow Inliner and I put a GM TBI on my '53 Chevy Pickup with a 270 GMC engine. We had it running in about an hour. I'm preparing a presentation for my club meeting this Saturday. There is more to a permanent conversion than the demo that we did but it's not too hard. Junk yard parts and a Megasquirt.

The TBI, ECM and wire harness came from an '89 full size GM van. You replace the ECM board with a Megasquirt board and a GM adapter board that plugs the GM harness to the MS. I think '88 to '92 will work. I've been parring down a '90 Suburban wire harness today getting ready for a presentation I'm doing at a club meeting Saturday. That takes some time and running fuel lines is some work. You have to have pressure safe lines and a return. Parts source is DIYAutoTune.

I would personnaly search ebay for a holly 2DFI system. Used you can find a complete setup for under $200. This is only fuel side, your engine would still retain the existing spark side. Adjustments are simple, idle screw, power screw, richness screw.

Or you could find a GM TBI unit from a 4.3, get the complete setup and install it. It will run fine without having to go Megasquirt which can be difficult for those that havent soldered a MS kit together or programmed EFI on their own.

Search Clifford Performance. They have a TBI unit for the 235. I have not done this conversion so I can't get you very much details other than that I know that Cliffords delas a lot into the performance of the 235's.
