The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Interiors 41-47 Dash Colors?

Since I rebuilt the front end in the 1947.1 COE, Ive decided to rebuild the steering column and box also while Im there. With that out of the way I figure I may as well pull the dash out and refurbish it.

Good logic, right?

Anyways, what colors came in these trucks for the dash? Was there a color difference between GMC and Chevrolet?

The gauges will be refurbished and keep their light tan color. The knobs are the rose tan color. The seats will be a brown vinyl. Eventually the truck will be a dark metallic blue with black fenders and steps, at least thats what I think so far.

Im up for any opinions! Im leaning towards a very light tan or cream color.

Some use a tan hammertone, but my 46 was a flat beige color on dash and all of interior. I used a paint that Chevs of the 40s call 'pearl beige' for interiors, but it's listed for 1954 but was a great match for my 46. You may want to give them a call.

So 'pearl biege' is the color I see in your gallery shot? Thats a gorgeous truck and a neat history to. Nice job!

I like that, it makes for a nice neutral color and would match just about any color on the rest of the truck. I dont think Id be happy with the hammered finish as I dont really like the look of it.
