Can anybody recommend a reliable parts supplier who will send items overseas? Please don’t include LMC or Classic Parts of America. As I found them both unsuitable.

Aye, the vat man is like a pelican, big bill and they know where they can stick it. Its just I got used to Speedway and Summit’s service, I was phoning them on Friday and the parts were here the following Thursday. The company’s tried so far don’t seem to be that bothered about foreign sales.

I thought It strange as it was all most $4000 worth of business. Just my canny Scots side coming out having to pay pounds for dollars for the same bits from englandshire.

So back to plan B, find a donor vehicle and go the V8 route, or stick it on flea bay.

I have parts send from CARTERS as well as Classic Parts of America.They both send by USPS (post) and it arrive in ten days . Big difference in shipping price compaired to UPS

There is a huge difference between USPS and UPS.
It's not a whole lot slower either!

Most American companies don't even seem overly keen to ship up here it Nova Scotia, and we are right next door. Had to go through some financial paperwork to even get Mar-K to ship to a US address just across the border using my Visa.

you guys get stung with big UPS charges? I've had to pay $50 on a $70 item! USPS is the only way to go, and that causes problems with a lot of US shippers who see mail as a PITA.

Mapleleaf, I've had just the opposite experience but I have not shipped any big items. Just recently I went to the post office with a package to Canada and the shipping, if I remember correctly, was $32. Drove over to Fed-X and it was $21. I always "downplay" the value and ship it as a GIFT. In over a half dozen shipments the recipient has yet to pay any customs taxes...... maybe its just luck.

For those that haven't noticed the Post Office, at least here, is getting more finicky by the week. Maybe its just that the folks at Fed-X know me but its hard to beat them......and they ALWAYS beat UPS. Maybe its just location loacation location?

I think you nailed it on the head there, Alvin. In our area, if you want a package delivered in a timely manner or even at all, it's USPS or UPS. FedEx is so unreliable it's a joke! Odd how it differs from region to region.

I quite agree Husker,talking about regional differences,a favourite here is extra charges to ship to the far north or any of the island groups off of the coast of Scotland.
That,I can agree with within reason.

Ironically they still charge extra to 'ship' to the Isle of Skye,despite the fact it's been joined to the mainland by the "Bridge over the Atlantic" as it's become known.
It's a con.....

I agree, shipping is a con. In today's economy it seems that all the shipping companies are figuring out ways to save money and charge more. And, they are good at it!

i ordered parts from truckshop on thursday before easter and had them in charlestown NSW AUSTRALIA on tuesday morning and that was over a holiday break good service to me i have also got parts from LMC good as well

TPR, I've also had quick service direct from the USA,the killer for me is the import taxes and V.A.T. here.

if i keep under 1000$ we are exempt of alltaxes etc we have a goods and services tax of 10 per cent also admin charge that adds alot learnt about that quickly
