I've been in hiding for a while, but here is a link to some "before" and "during" pictures of my Frankenbolt project.
A few things I learned that I should have already known:
NOTHING from a 235 engine will fit a 250 engine!
Sandblasting is better than chemical paint stripping.
Just because it was that way when you bought it, doesn't mean that's the way it came from the factory.
Everything takes longer than you think. Even those things you think will take longer than you think (huh?).

I am now in the process of putting in a new clutch and bolting in the GM 10 bolt rear axle. I'll update pictures later of my custom axle perch and shock mounts. Hope to fire up the engine next week and drive around the yard with no brakes - WISH ME LUCK!

My '56 was sandblasted before I got it. I've had it for 3 years. There is still sand coming out of it. I bet I've vacuumed a pickup bed load of the stuff. Got some more out of it last night.

Been driving mine for 8 years and no sand coming out of it....but then you may not have pulled it down the highway for 50 miles at 90 MPH like I did.

If you got rust it sure beats soda or plastic blasting!!

Yeah, after sandblasting I blew it out with an air hose at line pressure, which at the shop is 120 psi. Then later I took the shop vac to it and pulled 50 Lbs. of sand out of the doors and cab corners. Then took the air hose to it again. I think I got MOST of it.
I was afraid of warping the hood and fenders, so I used paint stripper on them. That stuff stinks. Also I still had to scrape all the little nooks and crannies with a scraper. It still didn't get all the paint off, so I had to sandblast anyway.
Give me a sandblaster (or sodablaster)any day.

AChipmunk I'll have to send you a picture of my wife's car sitting in the body shop - chopped in half. We got hit from behind on the day of the GABFEST, and to fix the car, we had to find a donor that had been smashed in the front. The two halves are now welded together at the original factory weld points, and she looks good as new. Better than new actually, the door and hood gaps are now a consistent 1/4 inch all around. It wasn't that way from the factory.
