How it works When a spark plug fires, the capacitor block attached to each spark plug wire picks up a high voltage, low current charge. This charge is transferred from the firing cylinder to the other non-firing cylinders via the harness wire. These charges cause a partial breakdown in the larger hydrocarbon molecules in all the non-firing cylinders, resulting in increased combustion efficiency. This translates into better fuel mileage (economy), increased performance, easier starting, less pollution (lowered emissions), smoother idle. Thought I might give one a go if it helps overall. My truck "fiddy" runs pretty rich-i think a carby overhaul is the main fix but if this helps?.....

Barnum. He had a philosophy of life that's been emulated by the manufacturers of gimmick ignition parts for a long time.

The first time I saw that system was in the late 1950's. It didn't work then, and I seriously doubt that it's improved much in the 45 years since gullible people were buying it then. A well-manitained conventional ignition system, or one of the electronic-controlled systems will work a lot better. Jerry

I have a couple of engines that have distributorless ignitions that fire the plugs on each cylinder on the exhaust stroke as well as the compression stroke. I haven't noticed any differance in carbon build up, in fact the plug electrodes seem to wear out faster.

If you want cleaner emissions, there's always a catalytic converter. Not to sound like a smart-ars or anything...but that is a proven technology. I can understand wanting to run a cat, if you don't like the exhaust fumes wafting in through open windows in the summer. You can always run a cat, even if you aren't required to. The modern high flow cats don't significantly affect horsepower anymore. And go for about $65 at Summit.
But watch out for these "snake oil" solutions. A capacitor would steal some of the spark energy to charge itself up, and that would definitely reduce the voltage across the spark gap, resulting in even more incomplete combustion.
Why not consider a multiple spark ignition system? There are several out there, and they definitely work. Hotter spark and multiple spark, will result in better combustion and greater efficiency.
