Any input on leaving my 292 block bare? I just got it back from the machine shop and they shotpeened it. It looks really good, so I am thinking of leaving it as it. Also, what about the head? Is there a reason it be painted? I recall the Santucci book said to use cheap paint if you paint it. Not sure why. I have a Mercruiser 165 250 6 cylinder also and it is glossy black and looks pretty cool.

The only exception is around the exhaust manifolds. I don't know what it is called however.
