Motor is a 292 Chevy six with a mild rebuild and the tranny is a 700R4. I am getting a driveshaft cut to fit today. I am tempted to rig up some temporary wiring and gas tank just to hear it fire up. But I guess I will pull it apart, paint the frame, and start on the body work the cab needs. At least I am making progress. And that's where the rebuild ends and the "Drive the wheels offa it" begins. Yeah-better to do it all the right way,in the right order...;=D

Anything that needs to be pulled or corrected is best done before you final paint and hang sheetmetal.How dissappointed you would be to complete your truck only to find it ain't movin' nowhere?!! :mad:

I have already hung the sheetmetal on the front end and test fitted my bed and running boards to the newly shortened frame. Those carriage bolts on the running boards are a pain in the butt. I think I will replace them with some drilled and tapped plates like the ones that hold the rear of the cab. That way I can just use regular bolts up through the bottom and still have some adjustability.
