I never really noticed that before, is it normal for these trucks or did the PO do something different? Jolly pointed out that if you were to lean on it, you'd open the door and possibly fall out. Gee, I really wouldn't want that to happen to the wife, she'd think I did it on purpose . I never ride on the passinger side, so I never noticed, I mean I've only had the truck over a year, oh duh. I don't think so, because if you sitting in the pass. seat the handle would be grabbed by your right hand and the first thing you would do is pull it toward you/pull it up. Imagine the face of a clock with the #9 being centered. It seem to me (I'll pull the cover in a few days) That the latch bar connected at the bottom would pull away from the rear of the door area releasing the lock/latch? Pushing down on the handle should engage the bar to push against the lock/latch to jam or force it to lock.
I'll take a look at the posistion of the handle as how it sits tonight, loosen the set screw and try and reposition it, but I don't think that will mater because the pivot shaft still would act the same. (Does that make sense?).
The only thing I can figure is that when the PO installed the pivot it was put in at the wrong angle and the latch bar is at the top instead the botton of the pivot point. and it woud act in reverse. I'll let you know later.
Jake

Both handles extend toward the back of the cab and both push down to open. That is the way they were when I got the truck. They could easily be changed to extend forward and pull up. Anyone know which is correct ?? | | | | Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 1,181 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 1,181 | We figured it out. The stock way to mount the pass. side handle is it faces the 5 O'clock position and you life it upwards and backwards. Strange but safe. You push it toward the 6 o'clock position to engage the lock.

Pull the c0over and see if the bar bas bend before it goes through the rear (CAB SIDE) hole, if they get bend just a little they won't reach enough.
