Hello Chevy Dudes,got a problem for ya,,i was flushing out a 235 i have on my 50,,let truck run a while,,so it gets hot,,fluid coming out of overflow tube,,What the heck,,so then i see if theres any thing left,now i have a little steam coming out of radiator(cap part),,so i add water(she went down),,,what gives???,,I used Coca-cola for a flush,,I dont think that would cause the problem,,Any advice????? :confused:

Were you really serious about the coke? The sugar may cause you problems. You should really only use real radiator flush chemicals.

There is a normal amount of pukage out the radiator when you fill it freshly, since it will eventually seek its own level, just make sure it doesn't drop below the level of the core tubes in the top tank.

I've used SOS dishwasher detergent before, but never Coke.

Heck, I bet it is no worse than water. Just make sure you flush real good. And add some lemon.

I prefer Tab. It's cheaper than Coke and comes in a pretty pink can.

heard of unseizing engines w. coke...but never flushing a radiator...still..ya gotta admire that sorta ingenuity! or..over-all common sense blockage..

All joking aside, did you flush the system good after adding the coke? If not, you need to. A 50-50 mix of antifreeze, and only fill to one inch below the top of the radiator, leaves room for expansion so you don't lose as much coolant out the overflow. Only check the coolant level with the engine cold. IF you are still loosing a lot of coolant after that, you have problems to solve.

The title of this thread reminds me of that pennzoil/quaker state commercial where an engine jumps out of a guy's vehicle after being fed bargain basement oil, and then the engine proceeds to puke black gunky oil all over the guy.

Well i hope the engine doesnt vomit all over me,,when the fluid level was down,i did put some water in it,so now its diluted,,I wouldve used real Flush stuff,but i cant see cotaminating ground and water below(maybe well water too,thats why i used coke,id rather repair or replace engine than wreck ground water( my opinion)..

I could see it. Maybe heat some hotdogs on the manifold while flushing the engine.
When you flush your engine you need to catch the flushing liquid and all coolant and give it to the recycler that you also use to dispose of your used oil. There is no need to let it run free on the ground until it is very flushed and runs clear.
