hey guys,
i was test driving my 57 chevy 3100 yesterday, and going about 50mph, and it was really windy ouside, and i guess the wind was really coming in under the hood through the grille and radiator, because the top of the hood was shaking about, almost seemed as if it would tear through. LOL.
the outer edges of the hood was fine, just the center section.

any of you guys have this happen to you ?

my hood does have the 2 cross bars going from front to back, diagoanlly.
probably just an old truck acting like one. LOL.

thanks..leonard,.

Mine dances around pretty good, too. I do know that the adjustment of the latch can be touchy, took me several tries to get it right to keep it from bouncing at the front.

Is there some of of felt tar strips between the hood and diagonal cross bar supports? That's what my 63 and 68 trucks have.

the TF trucks have nothing between the X bars and the skin, they're meant to keep the hood "square" .... the sheet metal skin on the 55-57's does wow a lot at speed, especially if there's also gusty winds - nothing to be done about it, the shape change in 58 eliminated the behavior

Mine bounces around pretty good the second I get over 60. Its missing some of that felt stuff.

One of these days I will get around to fixing that.

Make sure your tires are well balanced. It will make a difference if the front tires are out of whack a bit.
