I tried some searches for this information, but didn't come up with anything. I have a 1951 6400. I have beautiful fenders, except they are rusted badly for about 6 inches where the fender meets the cab. I realize the fenders of the big bolts and smaller trucks are different, but what about the mounting surface where the fender mates to the cab? What I was hoping I can do is cut out that part of a small truck fender and patch my big fenders. Has anyone out there done this? Are the curves, profile, etc.. the same in that location? I don't have any small fenders laying around to see. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hy H.I., as the cabs are all the same I would think a "patch panel" from a small truck could be made to work fairly well, you might have to tweak it a bit but it should be doable, hope that helps.

The hoods and fenders are longer by several inches on the big trucks. But it may work. Let us know what you do and take pictures for us!

I do know that running boards have a taller "skirt" on the big trucks than the small trucks, thus the cab down to running board measurement is different for big and small trucks.
This could be a factor depending on how much of the patch panel you need to use, as the fender lines up with both cab and running board.

All good points guys, and I appreciate it. I understand what you're saying Grigg, the part of the fender below the cab that stops even with the bottom of the running board is longer and bigger. I hadn't thought of that until you said something. I'll study on it, but if the contour is the same, I feel I can make it work. I will take pictures with I start it. I'd love to find a couple of good big bolt fenders, but in humid, salty, Florida they are hard to find.
