I'm getting 13 volts at idle and 13.8-9 at speed. A tad short but still in the green. Is it worth getting a new alternator?
Also the turn signal indicator (red 4 way) has started staying on of late and will run the battery low if I don't drive it for a week or so. Battery is brand new, 3rd one in 20 months.

They should be able to tell you in seconds if your alternator is bad. Turn the lights on as you rev the engine & check the voltage. 13.8 is normal but it should retain it when there is a load on the system. I suspect you have a shorted diode causeing the drain on the bat. & possibly lighting the 4 way indicator.

Do you know if your running a 10DN externally regulated Delco alternator or possible an internally regulated 10SI Delco? Your best bet would be eliminate the alternator and take it and have it checked. If your running a Delco just one of the 6 diodes bad will let it drain back and run the battery down.
