on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 166 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 166 | I was on a website that showed good and bad reviews equally on these batteries. I have a 350 engine. I also want to add ALL the bells and whistles to my project bus. Is 875 cranking amps sufficient juice, and can someone tell me any experiences or heard of any from these batteries ? Thanx alot ! That is a hefty amount of CCA. That figure will only come into the equation as you start, or try to start your engine. It allows you to crank for 30 seconds at 0° and not drop below 7.5 volts (I think).
If your engine doesn't start after this ordeal, you have serious problems elsewhere.
The CCA won't figure into the "bells & whistles" formula as much as the rated output of your alternator. With lots of goodies on board, you will want a high output charging system.

I,ll check out some alternators that will give me my high output. Even if your engine is not high compression ratio, these high torquers are gear driven, which really whip the engine over zero weather at the same CCA as you would use for a normal starter. The only drawback is that they are more expensive than factory, but I think they are well worth the expense for reliable cold weather starts. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 | IsolationRide,
My post wasn't correct..you indicated cranking amps or CA. My reference was to cold cranking amps or CCA. I think CA is measured at 32°. The point I was trying to make is that lots of electrical do-dads will impact the system as the rig runs, which is charging system territory.
The oink in the battery is relevant to spinning the engine over during a start...basically.

New Factory DELCO 145Amp ALTERNATOR Chevy GMC Truck Van Also fits most 1999-2007 Sierra Suburban Tahoe & Yukon US $78.00 - with the CN $ at an all time high it's probably less than that to you. I also ALWAYS use Optima Red top batteries because you can mount them anywhere, never need to vent them and you can drain them down to nothing with out major problems (if you are an idiot like me and forget to turn your lights off).
I would rather a beefier starter than a battery or a mix of both worlds like I mentioned. | | |
