If this is of help for others:

1961 Chevy Apache 10 Restoration Photo Album

It provides some details during the restoration process.
This photo album provides photos, tells a story, and documents most of the steps along the way during a truck project restoration effort.

I created this photo album and it has existed for nearly a year and a half now. It has had 20,000 Internet hits / visitors during that time. I have received numerous emails providing feedback remarks and asking questions. Many of those questions were of the "how to" nature. This album has generated several individuals to visit stovebolt.com and as a result have joined. I refer the technical help and the helping nature of the stovebolters regularly.

Many photos in this photo album have been used as reference points during discussions over the phone between myself and others.

What's NEW about his? The photo hosting website (imagestation.com) is closing and shutting down as of today (Feb 1, 2008). Thus I have moved the album to a new photo hosting website called webshots.com. So the album is at a NEW site.

What's IMPROVED about it? I have taken the effort to go back thru it and attempt to provide more DOCUMENTATION of many of the steps during a truck project frame off restoration. As well, I attempted to provide a story of the process which includes the "ups and downs" of my feelings and a little history of events.

For whatever it maybe worth, feel free to reference it. For many "experienced restorers" this maybe a waste of time, but to the Newbies this may have some value.

Stovebolters have been and are a wealth of help to me and I just want to give something back when/where I can. This album is far from the best "how to", however it does present a view of the "process" of a frame-off restoration.

Viewing albums in webshots.com:

If you use the "slideshow" it will simply scroll thru the photos showing the photos and the photo "title". "Slideshow" is great for quick viewing of the album. But does not display documentation text associated with each photo.

Manual scrolling thru the album via use of the "next" button provides an opportunity for viewing the complete documentation below each photo. The documentation is provided in both the "caption" area and in the "comments" area.

My hope:
In retrospect, I was CLUELESS on the overall process of a frame-off restoration, the total work involved, the money it takes, and the amount of time required. HOWEVER, I GAINED a sense of pride that will last with me until I go to the grave. I will never regret doing this and esp'ly together with my son-in-law, other family, and friends.
Now having said that. My hope is to help others, NEWBIEs or not, better understand the process and have an appreciation of what is all involved. I have talked to, heard of, and seen several projects which were started and never finished. Individuals have gotten frustrated and given-up on their dream, many in part because they did not understand what they were getting into. So if this photo album can be used to gain a little understanding of the process, then I feel I have "given" something back. If it is not obvivous, I am a believer in the "pay it forward" concept.

So if anyone is able to pull some value from this or any of my truck related photo albums, please "go for it".

Thanks,
Brian

It has been a little over a year since I created this, it has over 117,000 hits against it.
So someone is getting value out of this restoration photo log. That is all I was hoping for!

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
