Now I know for a fact that this subject has had a lot of discussion before. The search function never never brings back what I am looking for. Very frustrating. I would like to know how a directional system is wired when LEDs are used for indicator lights. Also can someone please clue me on how to use the search function? I cannot make it work no matter what I try. Weeds

Why is it not working? are you burning them out? Don't believe the package when they state for 12V or 3V or what ever. You need to use a resistor with each one.

Use one of the above to help figure them out. Also, LED will only work hookup the right way. Try reversing the connectors, if you hear a pop or see a flash, its to late! Led's cannot take a over voltage, more resistor is better then not enough. I have burnt up a bunch of them so I am getting pretty good with them. Joe

I believe they wire the same as incandescent bulbs except for the need to put a specialized LED flasher in the circuit because the LEDs don't draw enough current to make the stock flasher work. Another solution is to wire an incandescent bulb into the circuit somewhere hidden so there will be enough draw for the stock flasher to work.

Weeds, On the search Feature, be sure that the time frame you want to search is correct. It defaults to one week.

As for the LED Tail Lights... Tiny's got it exactly right.

Click on the Search button located between "Active Topics" and FAQ in the tool bar. In the Keyword Search Terms enter +LED +Directional +Wiring (just as displayed here, including the + signs)

In the Date Range "New Than" Box add a zero to the one and change the period to Years. This will search 10 years of posts.

I come up with 28 pages of results if I leave the results per page at 25.

You can narrow your search to just the Electrical Bay or add or ignore certain terms by using the + and - signs in the search box.

I don't believe he wants LED tail lights. From what I read, he is looking for LED indicators for the dash. This is a different problem.

Weed, What you need to do is run a wire from the left and right turn circuit up under the dash. You can use very small wire as LEDs don't pull any current. Get the correct amount of resistor in line with the LED and it should work. You may have to install a diode on each side to keep the voltage from back feeding. Think of the diode as a one way check valve, the small stripe around the body is the valve. Voltage comes in from the other side and flows through the diode, if it tries to back feed, it hits the "valve" and stops. A LED will light with such a small amount of voltage, diodes are all most a must have.
